Live As A True Woman

A true woman recognizes her true nature as sacred, and to be revered.  When you break free of the cultural teachings and impressions that dictate what a woman 'should' be, do, or have, and allow your most primal and heart-felt desires to be illumined, it can be the most enlightening and empowering act you take in your entire life.

These days, it takes a lot of courage to become a true woman.  There will be many you may meet that will attempt to dissuade you, and make you feel bad about the very Spirit which is seeking to express itself through you, as you, and in your own unique, yet divine ways.  Going against the popular opinion takes great inner strength, yet the rewards are immense.

The most satisfied and happy woman I have ever met are those who are most aligned with the Truth of Who They Really ARE.  They are an exalted expression of what a True Woman exemplifies.  They are not trying to be like someone or something they are not.  They are simply being their most authentic, divinely designed version of themselves, doing everyday activities from the right place of alignment.

"When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world." ~ John Muir

A true woman realizes that she is connected to Nature, and all of life.  She expresses true care ~ for the earth, and her loved ones and extended community and tribe.

She creates and nurtures life in many varied forms.  And, she openly receives the abundant glory that the Earth will bestow upon her for her hard labors, dedication, and committed heart.

What exactly do we mean by True Woman?

Anyone who is striving to live life authentically, and with integrity ~ in harmony with their innate desires and instincts ~ is on the path to becoming a true human.

A true woman or man will be driven by a desire to be the best version of themselves they can be.

To be your best and realize your potential, it requires cultivating certain attributes, such as being open and willing to take an honest look at long held beliefs, and to make the commitment to eating the right foods, and acting in ways that support not only one's personal health, but the health of the greater family, community, tribe, and the Earth.

Think of the use of the word 'true' as when tightening the spokes of a wheel to ensure the wheel rides straight and is balanced.  Each spoke represents an aspect of your life, for which adjustments are made until your entire wheel, or life, are harmoniously aligned and in sync.

 What is Asatru?

The word 'Asatru' is from the Old Norse, ancient tongue of Scandinavia that translates to having faith in (or loyalty to) the Germanic Gods and Goddesses ('Asa' from the word 'aesir' and 'tru' meaning faith).

According to the Asatru Folk Assembly (AFA) website, "Asatru is an expression of the native, pre-Christian spirituality of Europe.  More specifically, it is the Way by which the Germanic peoples have traditionally related to the Divine and to the world around them."

Who exactly were the Germanic people, and what does this have to do with being a True Woman?

The AFA further states, "From Iceland to Russia, from the frozen north of Scandinavia to the Mediterranean, the Germanic peoples wandered and settled over a span of thousands of years. Today, their descendants are spread around the world. We may refer to ourselves as Americans or English, Germans or Canadians, but behind these labels lurks an older, more essential identity. Our forefathers were Angles and Saxons, Lombards and Heruli, Goths and Vikings - and, as sons and daughters of these peoples, we are united by ties of blood and culture undimmed by the centuries."

Asatru is the native European religion that defined a spiritual practice and way of living that served the family, community and tribe.

The tenets of Asatru provide a framework with which we can define how to live to be an exalted and virtuous man or woman, and live meaningful lives.  They outline qualities which we strive to emulate at all times.

You could say it is like having a good map and compass so needed these days to keep you on the Right path, and avoid the many pitfalls and temptations that could erode your health, and the quality of your life.

In order to live productive lives, and avoid the many temptations into materialism, depravity, degeneracy, or emptiness ~ void of what really matters ~  it helps to begin by reconnecting with our roots ~ roots we may have no idea even existed.

The practices served the many peoples of Europe well.  Most of us have been taught very little about how our ancestors lived, and what we were taught is mostly distorted.

Traditions practiced today are largely borrowed from the ceremonies practiced by our ancient ancestors.  The European folks practicing the many varied forms of Asatru, going under varied names, were Earth-centered, recognizing that they are part of and not separate from the Earth which provides all sustenance.

If you have a parent or relative with ties to Europe, you are part of this rich, largely unknown heritage.  It is the goal of my husband and I to help those interested and committed in becoming the very best they can be, in every way possible.

We hope to inspire, educate, coach, and encourage following the traditions of our early forebears.

Why?  Because at one time, before the traditions and practices were subverted by outside forces, the spiritual practices served the people well.   Men and women aspired to be virtuous, and live with integrity, serving one's self, while cultivating  healthy and cohesive families.  Their care was extended to the greater tribe, which led to healthy, strong and cohesive nations.

In the past, a true Woman (and a true man) also revered their role as stewards of the Earth, recognizing the need to live harmoniously with Nature, and the EArth's rhythms.  Ceremonies were conducted seasonally as a show of gratitude for all the Earth provided, and to ensure living sustainably to better manage resources for future generations.

We also encourage everyone who is interested in improving their lives, and making a difference in the world to take the time to learn about living more sustainably, permaculture, creating edible yards or gardens, and any other  cultural practices of your own lineage ~ if not of European descent ~ that will connect you more deeply to your own roots, and sources of all your own sustenance.

The methods discussed in this site may most resonate with those of European heritage, as that is our own heritage, and what we most know and align with.  We must all teach what we know.  However, anyone with which this information triggers a deep sense of resonance, and desire to grow, awaken more fully, and evolve is welcome.

Much of the teachings are Universal.  They are the steps that can be taken to help individuals become the best possible version of themselves ~ strong in body, mind and Spirit.

While this site is specifically geared towards elevating the role of the true woman, the topics and methods covered will be useful for both men and women, and is a complimentary site to the AsaTru Man being created by my husband, Don.

All people must strive to fight against the forces (called 'ettens' by our forebears) that prevent us from realizing who we really are and living as a true man or true woman if we are to ensure a good life for future generations.

For convenience, we have divided the areas to be addressed into the categories of Body, Mind & Spirit, although this may evolve or change.

Follow Your SPIRIT

A True Woman is one who practices mastery ~ of her health, emotions, mental processes, and her life.

This isn't about perfection.  It's about creating environments  that are most harmonious to nurturing her true Nature, and heartfelt desires.

She trusts and acts on her intuition.

And she reveres the divinely sacred feminine aspect of her nature ~ and role as a steward of the Earth.
