Cleaning And Organizing Your Home for a Healthier Life

Cleaning and organizing are important aspects of the Strong Spirit Woman total life makeover and lifestyle.  Why is this so important?

Having a clean living and workspace is  important because your outer environments reflect your inner mind, and vice versa.  Maintaining a clean and orderly home can help improve your mental clarity, productivity, and the quality of your life.

This section will be devoted to helping you create a nurturing and harmonious home environment that is uplifting, peaceful and an expression of your true self, values and desires.

Cleaning and organizing topics will also include tips to help you organize and de-clutter (including how to de-clutter all those old photos you've been storing forever),  using safe, non-toxic or homemade, chemical-free and environmentally friendly  cleaning products, setting up your home in ways that inspire you, and increase flow, and more.

I have experienced first hand just how much taking the time to clean, organize, and purify my living and work spaces have helped me to regain clarity, improve flow, and restore a sense of peace, which you can read more about here.

While I realize most people live busy hectic lives, with seemingly little time to prioritize cleaning and organizing, having an inviting oasis to return home to after a hectic day can help us in many ways, such as:

  • Increase focus and sense of calm
  • Improve flow ~ financially, professionally, and even aid in attracting the right partner!
  • Reduce time spent looking for misplaced items
  • Minimize chemical-induced allergic exposure
  • Reduce risk of skin irritations
  • Lift our moods and reduce stress
  • Inspire greater creative expression and productivity
  • Align us with our greater values from using non-toxic products that leave a lighter footprint on the earth...

....to name a few.

I decided to order eco-friendly dishwasher detergent pods one day, and I was glad I did. They came out great! Way less messy too!

Get the toxic chemicals out of your life!  Try any of these natural products ~ each of excellent quality.  Wool dryer balls reduce drying time.  Commercial dryer sheets are chemical-laden, and could be causing allergies for some.  Every thing you do to replace chemicals with natural, synthetic-free products will make a big improvement in your health and life!

While I am no way neat freak, I do know the value of having a clean, organized, and decluttered  home environment.  It is a purification of our external spaces that greatly impacts, and reflects what is going on internally.  Some spiritual scriptures call this 'God's work.'

I consider it an expression of the divinely feminine aspect of who we are as stewards and caretakers ~ especially as women!  While feminism caused many of us to shuck the mop and broom in favor of climbing the career ladder, it is still 'holy' work and energy well spent, regardless of whether being a male or female.

It is a show of respect ~ for ourselves, our dwelling spaces, and our planet.  If we want our homes to provide a sanctuary for us as a respite from our hectic lives, then we need to budget some time for maintaining our home and belongings as best we can,

One option is to hire out.  Many people don't like to clean, and rather spend their time doing other things, like, say, going for a hike outside!

My suggestion is to embrace the process cleaning and organizing as a meditation in mindfulness, and a chance to lift the vibrational energy of your home, as well as yourself!  Play some music, have some easy snacks and beverages aroun, and make it fun!

Cleaning and organizing can become an enjoyable task in our lives when we realize the value living in harmonious spaces affords us, and when we see cleaning as a chance to purify our thoughts, and practice mindfulness.

And, it never hurts to play some fun music to listen to while we clean!

Cleaning and organizing is about creating a space, or at least a general area, for our many varied 'things' to land ~ be they shoes or papers.  'Everything needs a home.'   One of my favorite books on organizing that I recently read is Real Life Organizing: Clean and Clutter-Free in 15 Minutes a Day, by Cassandra Aarssen, which I reviewed here.

Taking time to periodically de-clutter and do some space-clearing in addition to your daily or weekly home maintenance 'chores'  may require a bit more effort, but it is so worth it.  I believe one of the many things we are here to learn is how to better let go of those things (including behaviors, thoughts and people) that are not serving our best interest, or that bring us down.

Space clearing and feng shui are also distinct, yet important aspects to helping us uplift the energy of our home spaces using a variety of techniques from using sound, aromas, smudging, and more, along with appropriate placement of our furnishings and decorations to stimulate various aspects of our lives we are wanting to improve.

Denise Linn, author of Space Clearing; Sacred Space: Clearing and Enhancing the Energy of Your Home;  and Feng Shui for the Soul, and others, is also a teacher and leading expert and creator of a course in space clearing.

I highly recommend any of her many excellent books, and space clearing course for those interested.  These and a few other recommended reads are linked below.

This part of the 'Home-Arts' section will be devoted to all things related to cleaning and organizing, de-cluttering, space clearing ~ along with other domestic arts such as cooking, gardening, and other topics on self-reliance and permaculture.

Getting organized, and down-sizing our 'things and stuff' can be an emotional, yet transformational experience.  Many people who struggle with weight loss find that doing some good de-cluttering was the missing link, shedding weight after shedding excess belongings.

Here is a list of more articles available now, or will be soon featureing the various domestic arts, including:

  • Organizing & Decluttering
  • De-cluttering photos
  • Use of non-toxic products ~ reviews, and affordable homemade cleaning products
  • Cooking, setting up a healthy kitchen pantry, canning, setting up an efficient indoor/outdoor kitchen
  • Gardening and permaculture
  • Other topics involving self-sufficiency, and being resourceful
  • Creating art with found items
  • Ways to simplify our lives, or do things more efficiently
